This is about some loon hiding in the bushes shooting people playing baseball... We should all not give a rat's ass what that cretinous coward's ideology was.

(13,216 posts)I don't want to make political hay either. The guy had anger issues, and he should have gotten help long ago - but because he was too proud to get help, or was too busy, or the safety net had been shredded so much he didn't feel he had any options, he went all "lone wolf" to make a political statement against his perceived enemies.
And since it was a group of congressmen, for some reason it's worse in the eyes of the media and pundits (on edit) than if it was three guys on the metro trying to do the right thing.
I just wish that it isn't going to be used as an excuse for a bunch of excitable snowglobe residents to pretend that it's just another liberal attack on their fortresses of idiotology. Because no matter how we as reasonable adults react, the authoritarian lizard brain that the conservatives nurture is going to be looking at the situation on a personal attack, and they're going to start nattering on about 2nd Amendment solutions to the 1st (and 14th) Amendment rights they think threatens them.
Words hurt them like bullets. So they're going to react with bullets. They feel they have a right to put their boots on the necks of everyone who disagrees with them.
Take care, be aware - and be legally fair.
Since the late 1980's, when it became acceptably profitable to promote a small world "protected" by fear and hate instead of a large world that embraced progress and wonder, it was always going to be political, whether we want it to be or not, or or took the high road or not.
Conservatives nowadays are pretty much all frightened, over-emotional adults who want a small, comfortable world they can be in charge of. Whether they're wealthy billionaires trying to create their own reality or mostly drunk Uncle Pete and Aunt Denise who trust their bible thumping church for support and to absolve their self-loathing to get into some form of heaven, they're all pretty much fearful bullies or sheep.
Just as they need to understand they don't have the right to just get rid of almost 200 million fellow citizens they don't want to have around them so they can be (they think) happy in their little enclaves where nothing "bad" can happen, we have to understand that we can't just pretend they don't exist as we try to advance to the best of our potential as a species.

(3,105 posts)i think it is exactly the time to bring politics into this, i pray that the victims will be whole and healthy, but really, this comes from the top down, and dear leader needs to step the fuck up and totally, completely disavow the violence that is spreading like its a virus.
but then again, the older I get, the less I understand, it seems.
