Trump Gets Weekend Reprieve
The news media seems to work banker's hours most of the time. Saturday and Sunday aren't big on breaking news stories and the like. Reporters need a couple of days off, too, apparently.
So Drumpf is in Saudi Arabia, with a smaller than usual press contingent keeping an eye on him. It's probably unlikely that he's going to break any news today or tomorrow, although he may break with protocol a number of times.
The weekend crews are on the news programs, too. So, we're going to get stand-up reports from reporters in S.A. but they're not going to be full of amazing gaffes like trump Trump has committed this past week.
In the meantime, the big media outlets back home are also on weekend schedules, and the investigative folks aren't getting their calls answered by their various and sundry sources so quickly.
Today and tomorrow will be primarily rehashes of Friday's breaking stories, with a few references to almost forgotten huge stories from the middle of the week. The major players from the administration are with Trump, and people like Comey are studying on what they'll say on Monday.
Still...there is potential. If The Donald manages to stick his foot far enough down his throat to choke on it, we'll hear about that. Otherwise, we'll just see ceremonial coverage of photo ops.
Take the day off. That's my recommendation. Monday will be here soon enough, full of anticipation and loathing. Enjoy this weekend of peace. It will be over far too soon.
