5. Nikki Haley, governor of South Carolina. Haley is the first woman to serve as governor of South Carolina and the second Indian-American governor in the country. At 40, she is also the youngest current governor in the country. Haley signed a law cracking down on illegal immigration and checks many of boxes in terms of tea party enthusiasm. However, as mentioned, she's been in office just 18 months. And for all of her charisma and star power, Haley could generate some distractions for the Romney campaign, given accusations that she was involved years ago in an extra-marital affair, allegations Haley has denied.

There will be sooooo much stuff to write about. She's a bigger liar than Romney.

(36,974 posts)Someone that is young or good looking - without enough experience and qualifications - should NOT be put in the position of being a heart beat away from becoming president.
And I also think that we need a hell of a lot more than only ONE vice-presidential debate in order to learn more about the VP picks.
It is crazy that a VP can be on a ticket without going through a LONG and rigorous vetting BY the American people.
I think VPs picks on both sides should be picked at least SIX months before the election.

(24,721 posts)I would have liked to have heard more beyond the already-obvious political philosophy. I'd like to have had them quizzed on world situations, geography, & American history. Who's next in line to the president owes the public more information about themselves than giving us just one hour's worth of platitudes.

(8,224 posts)only if it is late in the 4th quarter and he needs to loft a long pass.... and if he does so, it will not work. There are too many reasons for the republicans to lose the woman's vote and this will not help.

Oh, those wacky Republics.

(70,686 posts)Let's see, back when he was assuring us that KKKarl would be indicted according to his sources knowledgeable of grand juries. When it didn't happen, he revealed that his sources were lawyers who had extensive experience representing clients facing grand juries --- NOT that particular grand jury, NOT with inside contacts/information with the federal prosecuter's office: Iow, lawyers who were giving him their best guesses AS PUNDITS, nobody with ACTUAL INFORMATION.
Then recently SHUSTER had another one of those predictive stories, I forget what about.
Yes, he tells us what some of us want to hear, the way Faux tells wingnuts what *they* want to hear, and he *did* work for Faux in his past. But, oh, well.
