Feinstein slams group of all-male senators working on ObamaCare repeal
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on Sunday slammed the all-male group of senators recently assembled to work on the Senates ObamaCare repeal bill.
I dont know what the 13 white men, when you have five Republican women who are excluded from that, that these 13 men are supposed to sit down and put something together, Feinstein told Andrea Mitchell on NBCs Meet the Press."
McConnell last week reportedly put together the group of senators to work on the repeal once the legislation narrowly passed the House. The team includes Republican Sens. John Cornyn (Texas), Rob Portman (Ohio), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), John Thune (S.D.), Ted Cruz (Texas), Mike Lee (Utah), Tom Cotton (Ark.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), John Barrasso (Wyo.) and Mike Enzi (Wyo.).
Once released, the list of senators was immediately criticized on social media for not including female lawmakers. Feinstein said she does not know what McConnell has in mind for the Senate's version of the healthcare legislation. Senate Republicans have said their bill will be entirely separate from the House Republicans' recently passed bill.
Feinstein on Sunday emphasized that womens health is an important piece of healthcare negotiations.
