I feel like we are still sinking in many little ways. So much has been compromised since Reagan. It is that little thinks like union destruction, loss of liberties for women, more restrictions on abortion, employment rights eroding, jobs getting less secure all the time, good paying jobs disappearing et al.
It is not just about big things. It is about the small incremental little wounds effecting the country. It is about the creeping racism and radical religiosity. It is about the reemergence of the KKK, white supremacy and hate crimes. And it is about an entire administration of saboteurs in our cabinet and government offices.
Surely we have fight on because we must reverse all this deterioration.

(61,720 posts)can't change the trajectory, is a pseudo-democracy covering for a kleptocracy. Sure, the oligarchy controls a lot already, but they are becoming more open and brazen about what they perceive is their right to rig the system and steal from everyone else.
The kleptocracy won't give a damn about the planet, either. The result is a dystopian world where the overpopulated masses fight one another for basic resources.
I'm continually shocked at the worship of free market capitalism I see on social media, as if that is the answer to everything. Everyone else is called the familiar names -- libtard, commie, etc.
And change will be dangerous. It's the other side that tends to employ violence against any progressive gaining ground politically. MLK, RFK, Wellstone, etc.
Sorry. I didn't say anything to make you feel better.

(20,027 posts)the financialization of the economy during and after the Reagan years is responsible for seriously eroding the country's social fabric, cohesion, and moral progress it enjoyed during the post-WWII "golden age." "Greed is good" and "profits over people" seem to be the rules of the road in the neoliberal Wall Street economy of Reagan and Republicans. That's a dark tunnel that may not have a light at the other end.
