Everyone, left and right, is on the 'Comey is a partisan hack' bandwagon, a big ol' hatefest from both sides. Trump is tweeting anti-Comey tweets as of last night. I wonder why...
Remember, Comey, back in the summer, wanted to go public about the fact that there was/is a Trump-Russia investigation. Obama admin WOULDN'T ALLOW IT.

(790 posts)Comey & the FBI did NOT want to say Russia was involved in hacking. It was the other Intelligence Agencies who were first on the record. And Obama wanted a Bi-Partisan response but Comey, McConnel, & Ryan refused. I know you linked to the above article, but the news media had reported previously otherwise.

(1,046 posts)According to this Politico article, it looked like 'top WH officials blocked it because it wasn't bipartisan. They didn't want to 'do Russia's job for them' by sowing discord. McConnell wouldn't cooperate.
This was a WH call.

(790 posts)Mr. Comey and other senior administration officials met twice in the White House Situation Room in early October to again discuss a public statement about Russian meddling. But the roles were reversed: Susan Rice, the national security adviser, wanted to move ahead. Mr. Comey was less interested in being involved.
At their second meeting, Mr. Comey argued that it would look too political for the F.B.I. to comment so close to the election, according to several people in attendance. Officials in the room felt whiplashed. Two months earlier, Mr. Comey had been willing to put his name on a newspaper article; now he was refusing to sign on to an official assessment of the intelligence community.

(781 posts)sanctity of the FBI spiel today.
What's more important... our democracy or Comey's selfrighteousness and the FBI?! After all, he said today that Russia posed the greatest threat to our country.
Whether it was his summer emails press conference and/or the "letter" 11 days before the election, he made a serious error in judgment.
Therefore, I hope for the best but fear the worst.
