When Donald Trump gets angry, he fumes. You cant make them happy, he said. These people want more and more.
He was complaining to friends that he had negotiated for weeks with Freedom Caucus members and he couldnt believe the group was still against the health care legislation. Trump and his advisers were buzzing about making an enemies list and wanted to force a vote. But it was Trump, a man who hates to show weakness, who had to blink. As support flagged, the bill was shelved.
I kind of pooh-poohed the experience stuff when I first got here, one White House official said of these early months. But this shit is hard.

(82,849 posts)You don't just get to put some reluctant contractor on the shelf and move on to the next mark to see if he's any more gullible. It's like there's just one Congress, and if you can't come to some understanding with them, there isn't another one waiting in the wings to deal with. Unfair!

(9,670 posts)Their hatred for government led them to believe that a "successful" businessman would fare well as the President of the USA, and maybe even turn the economy around at the same time.
I'd rather have a veterinarian as my cardiologist than Trump as the leader of the free world.

Yeah, being against things is REAL easy to do, and it's the only thing Republicans know how to do.

(100,068 posts)And they don't even know why they hate us, they just do. They really are like the Joker from the Dark Knight - they are dogs chasing cars, they wouldn't know what to do with one if they caught it. And now they've finally caught it, and guess what? They don't know what to do with it! And they don't give a fuck either - all they want to do is keep their precious majority.

Some very rich men have been paying Rush Limbaugh a lot of money for a long time.
That's why he keeps repeating his garbage on the radio for the last 25+ years.

(37,648 posts)Remember when no matter what Obama did, you criticized it for being wrong or not enough? Now you know....it's hard and it's not a dictatorship. You can't walk in and control the country with one brushstroke. There are three equal branches of govt, and there are all sorts of checks and balances on each of them.
And yes....ONE judge can stop your executive actions.

That is why the first 100 days is really more of a crash course in leadership 101.

Trump thought being President was easy .... after all, a black man could do it. But then he discovered it takes hard work, every day, and he's parcelling out the assignments to others who also aren't used to hard work. Ben Carson, Rick Perry, the rest of the deplorables, are all determined to jam up the bureaucracy - and they should be good at that.
As for Trump's tax reform plan (it's hard to dignify such a sketch as a plan), from what I can figure my own taxes will go down by less than $100. At the same time I expect the prices of a great many necessities to skyrocket. Throw in a major new war and the next two Presidents (assuming the Republic survives #45) won't be able to dig us out.

Why the f**k do Republicans think this shit is easy?
This goes part and parcel with their stupid notion that education, nuance, and being a "professional politician" are unnecessary.

Yeah, Ken. Because we all know how swell that worked out for the last guy who made decisions based on his gut; what was his name again...?. Jebus.
I kind of pooh-poohed the experience stuff when I first got here, but this shit is hard. - A White House official said of Trump's first 100-days. A sentence that should be trotted out every election!
