will cover this pre-existing condition. After he resigns "to spend more time with his family" he may not be able to get health insurance that would pay for the surgery if he and his fellow congressional cretins (R) get their way.
That is my take on this immediate need for surgery.

(11,922 posts)In 2002, I had an accident while hiking. I smashed and dislocated my right ankle. I had extensive surgery that included the implantation of 8 pins and two plates.
My orthopedic surgeon told me that there was no reason for me to ever have the hardware removed unless it gave me pain. Today I jog 3 miles a day on my treadmill without any pain and I am a good deal older than Mr. Chaffetz. Also, my surgeon said they had to vacuum the bone dust out of the wound as some of the bone had been "powdered".
So...just sayin'...

(62,444 posts)First, he's well off.
Second, Congress has long recesses and removal of orthopedic hardware is not urgent or that big of a deal. He has until December of next year.
Third, a change of employment is a circumstance in which one can obtain health insurance outside of open enrollment, and your pre-existing condition is covered.

(16,254 posts)How many reasons has he given so far? If no one bites, he pulls another one out of his bag.
Loss of insurance shouldn't cause problems. He can use some of those millions the Russians gave him. All he is doing is drawing attention to his leaving. LEAVE! Maybe then, the committee can get to work.
I can guarantee him that few will miss him.
