(58,785 posts)an ex-president paid a fortune to install in his home? The one a SoS preferred to use as a higher-security alternative to the government system? Like her forerunners and many others in various positions in government?

(494 posts)Honestly for me 1A and 1B are her fainting and the comey letter. Emails and Wikileaks are all secondary to that IMO

(1,828 posts)Really? You have an obese man who looks like he is going to stroke out any minute and a woman faints because of the heat and all the clothes she has on and that's why people didn't vote for her?

(494 posts)I'm just offering my opinion on the publics thought process. Carter and HW Bush both had fainting spells during their term and didn't get re elected. It's just kind of (really) a bad look on the surface, medically, for the leader of the free world to black out.
Yes mango Mussolini is a big fat orange slob and by the eyeball test I think and hope she will outlive him. That's my thoughts there. But I'm only a few years out of medical school.

(1,828 posts)But Carter lost because of the Iran Hostages (and Reagan's deal with the Iranians) and the 15% interests on home mortgages and Bush senior lost because of the terrible economy and his "Read my lips, no more new taxes" I don't think the fainting contributed, but I see your point.

(14,193 posts)A fake pile of straw, but a big pile nonetheless.
The old, "where there's smoke there's fire" theory. Which usually is correct, but not always. It worked on Hillary because of years, decades of a giant smoke show.
They were accused of murder of their good friend Vince Foster as a way to cover up corruption back in Arkansas.
Their foundation was painted as corrupt and 'pay to play' (even though, because the Clintons actually released their tax forms, it was shown that over 90% of the funds went to those in need). Its not like it is uncommon to have a meet and greet some large contributor to ones charity, to thank them personally.
That she was behind the tragic death of Seth Rich, a 27-year-old staffer at the Democratic National Committee who was shot and killed last year in Washington, D.C.
That she deliberately let Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans die in Benghazi, Libya.

Even that she was involved in some child sex ring!
I've probably misses a few. In fact if you go here they found 25 "scandals", not that I want to give them clickbait, but I'm not going to list them all:
http://www.wnd.com/2016/07/above-the-law-hillarys-huge-scandal-list-explodes-to-25/
The point is that there really HAS been a vast rightwing conspiracy against Bill and then against her...for decades. It doesn't matter if it was all smoke and mirrors. Because especially in middle America where there only choice of talk radio is RW hate radio that has been repeating lie upon lie for decades...it is no wonder that much of it sticks for the simple human knee jerk reaction that if most everyone they listen to on the topic thinks Hillary has gotten away with crimes, even murder, for decades, it MUST be at least somewhat true.
So what that is is the perfect set up for when and if she actually DOES make a mistake, like using a private server as SoS. It creates a kind of credit if you will of all of those past accusations where they just couldn't get enough proof for convictions (because no doubt of the Clinton's amazing power and influence and bribing, or maybe it was George Soros).
Its frustrating to have to just stand back and witness how this decades long brainwashing of a large chunk of the population actually worked. Especially adding the Russian hacking, the fake news and memes spread on FB.

(1,901 posts)as once again, the actual investigation unearthed no wrongdoing. So that's more fake news and propaganda carried not only by the media as a whole, but amplified by the supposed left.
There still was no proof and certain elements of the left were saying the same crap but substituting "corporatist" and "Goldman Sachs" for Soros, but everything else was literally the same.
It is frustrating and deeply annoying that so many were hacked by this propaganda, but one cannot just blame it on the right wing radio, it was the supposed left wing that took all that right wing stuff and gave it credence with people who didn't know better on the left. We still see it here and hear it from folks like Susan Sarandon, who actually believes the stuff she was fed.

(14,193 posts)ie. Russian hackers, and Trump hackers, and the rest a motley crew of libertarian nut jobs, and yes, probably there was tiny percent of more angry extremist leftists that didn't care if it was true or not and were too stupid to understand what the alternative would be. But in the grand scheme of things they had next to zero impact on the outcome.
I wish that we'd get a little unity on here where we can agree that 'the left' is not the enemy. The vast vast majority of those who would be fine with being called progressives, or left of center, (who's ideas are middle-of-the-road in every other western democracy), did not promote, distribute, believe, or concentrate on...any of the obvious fake stories. If you believe that then the hackers did a great job on you too, like they did with Trump supporters. It was pretty obvious to any thinking person that there was no merit to most every accusation made and that it's been perpetrated for political purposes by the GOP.
Maybe you weren't insinuating it but I just want to make clear that anyone that supported Bernie or any other of the more progressive candidates in the Democratic party went out of the way to specifically stay on message about what they stood FOR. "enough with the damn emails!" ....and any other fake scandal for the simple reason that it muddied the waters and 'trumped' the real issues of inequalities and injustice allowed to go on. Bernie was, some might say, boringly on message. He repeated ad nauseum his talking points on the 1%.
On the emails, I never gave her mistake with her server much gravitas, but there obviously was some misjudgment that she should have foreseen in using a private server, some of it proven to be official business. After all she did apologize finally. My point was that all it took was any small faux pas to tee off the trigger response that everything else she was accused of must be true. True to those conditioned to hate Hillary and all Democrats, and that segment is large and it is almost exclusively made up of people that would probably punch you in the nose if you called them "left".

is that the Russians could have gotten hold of state secrets.
I'm sure glad that can't happen now.

(28,144 posts)FBI has FISA warrant for Trump secret server connected to Russia.
Oh sweet irony! Trump's secret email server connected to Russia is the subject of an FBI investigation.
Two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community have confirmed to Heat Street that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of U.S. persons in Donald Trumps campaign with ties to Russia.
...
The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russias Alfa Bank.

I don't care why she had a server or why she felt the need to "bleach" it, but it cost her being president. With all the "lock her up" grandstanding from trump's side it just over whelmed enough voters who either voted for a 3rd party or didn't check off anyone for president on their ballot.
It's such a shame
