She was 95....
I so enjoyed all her segments with Dave, especially the "pies"!

I lost my 94 year old mother in my mid 50s. She was a pip, too. Condolences to Dave.

(6,979 posts)Momma Dorothy .... She seemed like such a real down to earth and sweet person. Loved seeing Dorothy & Dave together on his show.

(17,354 posts)Made it to 95. Only a small percentage of us will have a parent still alive when we're 70 (or a day shy of 70).
It's sad to lose her, of course, but we should be grateful for her longevity.

(21,928 posts)I bought my first VCR solely so I could record Letterman every night.
It was so nice that he introduced us to her.
My condolences to the family and those that loved her... and David. I loved the way she called him David.

(26,877 posts)Hard to see how one celebrates a birthday milestone like turning 70 the day after their beloved mother dies.

(61,709 posts)Thanksgiving, they were doing the pie segment in her kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and it was crammed full of one thing only -- Colt 45.
I thought I was going to wet myself, I was laughing so hard.
She raised a good son. RIP, Mrs. L.

So I picked another birthday.
It gets better.

(1,588 posts)Dave will find this out.
His mother lived a long time.
I do not know if his father still alive but it strange when parents are gone.
