Pro-Trump white nationalist propaganda site suddenly gets credibility boost from US Strategic Command

The United States Strategic Command's explicit endorsement of the white nationalist site that was once run by Donald Trump's senior advisor Steve Bannon is disturbing on a number of levels.
Donald Trumps America continues to be a place where the abnormal is passed off as normal, sometimes in frightening ways.
This tweet from the United States Strategic Command (Stratcom) raised alarm bells, not because of the content, but because of the source cited:

The tweet links to an article on Breitbart.com, the white nationalist propaganda site formerly run by recently-demoted Trump senior advisor Steve Bannon, and owned by billionaire Trump donors.
Furthermore, Stratcom responded to outcry over the tweet by defending their sourcing, and labeling Breitbart.com as factual and accurate, even as they claimed not to be endorsing it:

The use by our military of any white nationalist site as a source would be disturbing, but particularly one which is so closely tied to the current White House, and in a manner which seems designed to funnel traffic, and therefore revenue, to a site owned by a prominent Trump donor.
Stratcoms claim to simply have chosen a random factual and accurate source for the information is belied by the fact that the Breitbart article sources its headline Top General: Nearly All Elements of Nuclear Triad Outdated directly to the Defense Departments official government website.
