4. As long as he is in the US, I would think that they would be able to protect him.

play off each other in the immunity sweepstakes. Rats act in their own interest when the ship is sinking. Nothing gets a pig to squeal like the belief that someone else might get immunity before them and leave them holding the bag that leads to prison time...or worse.
