(146,341 posts)if they don't pass it, it's a new day, it seems to me. I thought I'd renew the question.

(10,437 posts)now trump can say.."see I tried"....Ryan can say...."see, I tried but now Trump says no longer important so we live with Obamacare and we move on to taxes"......saving further embarrassment and discussion of the awful conservative bill...while only pissing off their mad dogs....the senate will do nothing to their relief
this doesn't solve 2018 problem as we would have conservatives in the house on record with destroying healthcare...but a minimizing the level of pissed voters....
this is a way out from getting unstuck from the tar baby

(13,340 posts)Now I am not so sure.
I still vote Yes, but I think Cheeto Benito being an asshole is not going to help his case.

(146,341 posts)more Republicans decide to vote against it. I hope that trend continues, but I'm not sure.

(10,437 posts)that will be the focal point of 2018 election...they can't run from their vote that will piss off 100 million voters...many of which were trump/conservative supporters

(9,275 posts)The ads for our side will write themselves.
My Congressperson (Brian Fitzpatrick, R-PA06) has said he will vote against it for a *good* reason - our district has a real problem with opiate addiction and the bill will reduce or eliminate substance abuse coverage. Let's see if he actually puts his constituents over his party, or if he wimps out. He's a freshman so who knows.

(62,280 posts)The only long term position is to let Obamacare slowly become intractable, similar as to how the HHS in the UK has been gutted.
A dramatic change as proposed by the hard liners can't happen.

(62,280 posts)So many were resigned that the bill would pass. But the Republicans don't actually want to own up to anything, they don't want to be responsible for anything. They are the party of irresponsibility. They literally strive on incompetency, because they want the government to be incompetent. They want the government to be slandered as non-viable.
