45/140 pronounced a death sentence on (quite likely) a SIGNIFICANT number of federal workers.
I've watched this before and this will be CHILLING. Federal workers, no matter what and where, will be far more nervous about their positions than they deserve to be.
Ironically, a guy who lives on the property behind mine works for the feds at a "3 Letter Agency". He told me, kinda sheepishly, that he voted for 45/140 because "Hillary might be bad for him because she might cut some jobs from this guy's agency." I wonder how he and his wife (also a 45/140 vote, also a fed) feel about things now. I feel bad for them, actually, as they're good people, great neighbors, and generally caring for those with less.
No link. Live TV.

(14,577 posts)Except no concern that those who earn less money could afford healthcare when the ACA gets repealed.
Except women's equality
Except the LBGT community whose equal rights are getting legislated away
Except immigrants to this country deport them all and build a wall
Just no. There was enough information out there that benedict Donald is a liar, a cheat, a racist, a sexual assaulter, Ponzi scheme, lawsuits filed by people to get paid, his ties to the alt right, his courting neo Nazi's and so on.
They didn't care. I hope they do lose their jobs. Apparently they have no idea when they are being outright lied to. No deductive reasoning that if trump lied about 1,000 other things, he can't be trusted about anything. But they thought Clinton might do something.

(12,344 posts)It just directs agencies to find their own waste and redundancies. So how much do you think they will find on their own?

(31,261 posts)Work in jobs that save the country a lot of money, but it is difficult to put a dollar value on their work. I do industrial cost estimating where it is difficult to determine the dollar impact of events that happen, but where end of line cost/benefits analysis of them happenings is not done, this is commonplace in manufacturing, where things like the cost of labor and parts are known, but the cost of downtime due to not having enough labor and parts is unmeasured. Trump has people tell him how much a federal worker costs, but those people don't have it care about how much not having a federal worker costs. Trump's avid supporters view government workers as leeches that get big salaries (false in most cases) and benefits.

(67,855 posts)They see the solution as a very simple one. Cut workers and cut programs. Never mind that, just as an example, work still needs to be done and when someone who did the job is cut loose, we pay an outside contractor much more for the same work. Or we just let the job go undone until it is a festering sore that requires a far more costly remedy because it is now an emergency. (see: infrastrucrure)

(1,823 posts)nothing he has done has been surprising. Everything he has done he said he was going to do in the campaign, they just chose to ignore it or remain ignorant. He's the product of the right wing media, everything they've wanted for 20 yrs he says and does. He's cutting our influence around the globe and he's gutting the federal govt. If thats what someone wants then god bless them vote for the guy. But these "independents" that really thought Trump was going to "save them" I think will in the end regret their decision more than had they just had the "evil" Hillary.

(2,198 posts)them. Federal agencies are the economic engine in a lot of states...FL, SC, and some other red states being the exception. Federal workers are consumers and good citizens. Negative, unintended consequences will ensue. Mark my words.
