President Donald Trump was not aware that his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was being paid to lobby for Turkish interests in the months before the US election, the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, said Thursday.
"I don't believe that was known," Spicer said when asked whether Trump knew about Flynn's work before he appointed Flynn to his Cabinet.
In an interview with Fox News on Thursday night, Vice President Mike Pence said he was not aware either and that he only first heard about it as reports surfaced Thursday that Flynn had registered as a foreign agent with the Justice Department earlier this week.

Not much will change in other words, that was probably the deal though I have to wonder about his relationship to Bannon.

I bet he's there standing in front of the bathroom mirror most early mornings, imagining himself taking THAT Oath of Office. Maybe even rehearsing it. And fantasizing about which matinee idol would be cast to play him in the movies.

Some of the stories from three or four months ago ate just catching fire. Better late than never.

(82,849 posts)He kept a copy of the letter he sent to Pence, just so he could embarrass the Vice President later!
At least, that's the way I expect to hear it from Fox and hate radio any minute now.

He can't be that clueless, or they just keep him as a figure head.
The whole Flynn Russia thing and Pence not knowing was just for show for several reasons.
Still, as someone else said, at least Pence won't blow us up if he has a hissy fit over Schwarzenegger. .

I'll bet, deep down, Paul Ryan has definitely imagined such a turn of events. Fantasized about it, too. Just as I suspect Pence has done. Deep down. Alone, when they're sure nobody's watching and nobody around them can read minds.

(5,730 posts)Pence is less likely to be elected in 4 years. Turtleman is even worse. They are all so bottom of the barrel. How did this happen?
The foreign service guy who has served since Reagan said there is more cause for concern for the US now than since the 30s. That means he is More concerned now than WWII and September 11th.

(6,053 posts)Pence and Ryan are not inevitable.
Democratic are too quick to project into the future and talk about how nothing will work because if "this happens they will just do that."
or "we're doomed" , "we're screwed"
If people truly believe that Hillary Clinton won the election---why settle for anything less than President Clinton and VP Kaine?
There are avenues--it is not our task to determine in detail how justice might be achieved. It is our duty to demand that justice be done
Let's not be so quick to defeat ourselves or to let others convince us that we are defeated.
I don't know how we got from "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself" to "We're doomed." but its time to stop underestimating the power of righteousness.
I consider this election to be equivalent of the Confederate attack one Fort Sumpter.
It is fine to reach out to those who have not stood with us but the War has already begun.
