Millions Risk Losing Health Insurance in Republican Plan, Analysts Say (Fearful Trump voters)

Millions Risk Losing Health Insurance in Republican Plan, Analysts Say
By ABBY GOODNOUGH and REED ABELSONMARCH 7, 2017

Martha Brawley of Monroe, N.C., said she voted for President Trump in the hope he could make insurance more affordable. But on Tuesday, Ms. Brawley, 55, was feeling increasingly nervous based on what she had heard about the new plan from television news reports. She pays about $260 per month for a Blue Cross plan and receives a subsidy of $724 per month to cover the rest of her premium. Under the House plan, she would receive $3,500 a year in tax credits — $5,188 less than she gets under the Affordable Care Act.

“I’m scared, I’ll tell you that right now, to think about not having insurance at my age,” said Ms. Brawley, who underwent a liver biopsy on Monday after her doctor found that she has an autoimmune liver disease. “If I didn’t have insurance, these doctors wouldn’t see me.”

And she thought Trump would give it to her? He couldn't care less about people like her.

Piss on her.

15. Because the propaganda they listen to tells them that the "others" are getting

more and that is why she is getting less.

We have the Plutocrats who own the media and the politicians who are able to manipulate the ignorant into serving the ends of the Plutocrats. We can be mad at idiots like this woman but it doesn't get us anywhere!

We need to all join together to get the money out of our politics. It needs to be the goal of every Progressive to cut off the ability of corporations and the extremely wealthy to buy our politicians. That means taking back control of both houses of Congress, the WH, and the state houses. Donald Trump may give us the opportunity to do just that if we all focus together on the root cause of most of our problems.

When we do take back control wee need to bust up the media and banking oligarchies and require the truth in the news! No more, "It's Entertainment" bull sh*t. We must eliminate their propaganda so they cannot use the ignorant against us!

that only those who voted for Trump would be subject to his new health care.

And Ms Brawley deserves what she gets. She clearly wasn't paying any attention to anything to have voted for Trump. With all due respect, if she dies in the street that's what she voted for.

I am so freaking tired of people like her saying "Oh, gosh! I had NO idea!!" Well, fucking pay attention when you vote.

She said she couldn't afford insurance before the ACA,but she can barely afford it now,but she thought Trump would make it better? Seriously did these people actually listen to anything Trump said about this besides sound bites of him saying he would cover everybody. Pretty sure he was promoting health saving accounts, buying insurance across state lines. Getting rid of mandates etc. Anyone with half a brain could of told you you cannot do what he was proposing and cover everybody or make it better.

everybody would be covered, cheaper than "Obamacare" it would require a massive govt program to benefit the public.

You know, the very thing the republicans hate to do! How many times did the republicans in Congress try to gut the ACA when Obama was prez? More than once that's for sure and yet these stupid racist rubes actually thought Trump, the leader of the republican party, was going to help them out!

Throw in years of demonizing and lying about the ACA on the part of Faux and the 'pukes and this is what you get.

I just hope dumpcare is in fact DOA in Congress.

Republican leadership know that ACA repeal and replacement will hurt their voters the most and are trying to delay until after 2020 elections, when Democrats may have to face the shitstorm republicans caused. Their dumb voters will stay with them in 2018 and 2020 unless they get punched up side the head really, really hard. Brilliant and vilely evil doing the delay.

23. She didn't just vote her needed lifeline away. Her vote, and the others, took away

the needed lifeline of people who didn't vote for Trump.

She hurt herself and a whole lot of other people. I want for her to understand that.

I do feel bad that ignorance can kill. I do feel bad that people vote against their own interests. I find it mind-boggling that anyone thought a billionaire real estate developer would know anything about the lives of regular Americans. With everything Trump said on the campaign trail, they knew this would happen. He told them.

For years the GOP has done little else besides repeatedly voting to repeal the ACA. Weren't they paying attention? People are now supposed to feel sorry for them because they couldn't stop hating long enough to realize that Obamacare and the ACA were the exact same thing?

No one should have to die from lack of healthcare, not even those I disagree with (and it goes well beyond mere disagreement) - but mostly I feel bad for the people that they have hurt with their ignorance, with their hate, and with their vote.

What I feel for the Trump voter is mainly anger. Trump lied to them. The GOP lied to them. They lied to themselves. But in the end, they will find a way to blame Democrats and Liberals, immigrants, African-Americans, LGBT, and women. They'll blame the "liberal media", but never once will they blame themselves.

Martha Brawley put her hope in a man who said he would repeal Obamacare. She put her hope in a political party that made it plain as day they would repeal Obamacare. She betted her life on it.

Worse, she betted the lives of others on it.

Up until now, there have been Dem presidents, dem controlled senates since the early 2000s. Those dems have buffered the republican voters from the real republican agenda. Now there is no buffer, there is no one to stop the republican agenda freight train bearing down on all of us.

They have safely voted for republicans for many years because someone (dems) protected them from themselves. Now they are finally going to get to see what they've been voting for all of these years.

57. "Fearful Trump voters" can go fuck themselves

They are getting exactly what they wanted and exactly what was promised them.

No more sympathy for stupid and bigoted.

61. I saw that. The most interesting sentence in the article:

She and her husband voted for Mr. Trump — the first time she had voted in her life — she said, because “I thought he would make it better.”

64. This is what happens when ignorance collides with civic duty

You cast votes that end up hurting you, and you only have yourself to blame.

Or for those who voted for HRC, you only have the ignorant to blame.

Damn do we have a lot of ignorant people in this country.
