Millions Risk Losing Health Insurance in Republican Plan, Analysts Say (Fearful Trump voters)

Millions Risk Losing Health Insurance in Republican Plan, Analysts Say
By ABBY GOODNOUGH and REED ABELSONMARCH 7, 2017

Martha Brawley of Monroe, N.C., said she voted for President Trump in the hope he could make insurance more affordable. But on Tuesday, Ms. Brawley, 55, was feeling increasingly nervous based on what she had heard about the new plan from television news reports. She pays about $260 per month for a Blue Cross plan and receives a subsidy of $724 per month to cover the rest of her premium. Under the House plan, she would receive $3,500 a year in tax credits — $5,188 less than she gets under the Affordable Care Act.

“I’m scared, I’ll tell you that right now, to think about not having insurance at my age,” said Ms. Brawley, who underwent a liver biopsy on Monday after her doctor found that she has an autoimmune liver disease. “If I didn’t have insurance, these doctors wouldn’t see me.”

We have the Plutocrats who own the media and the politicians who are able to manipulate the ignorant into serving the ends of the Plutocrats. We can be mad at idiots like this woman but it doesn't get us anywhere!

We need to all join together to get the money out of our politics. It needs to be the goal of every Progressive to cut off the ability of corporations and the extremely wealthy to buy our politicians. That means taking back control of both houses of Congress, the WH, and the state houses. Donald Trump may give us the opportunity to do just that if we all focus together on the root cause of most of our problems.

When we do take back control wee need to bust up the media and banking oligarchies and require the truth in the news! No more, "It's Entertainment" bull sh*t. We must eliminate their propaganda so they cannot use the ignorant against us!

Seriously did these people actually listen to anything Trump said about this besides sound bites of him saying he would cover everybody. Getting rid of mandates etc. Anyone with half a brain could of told you you cannot do what he was proposing and cover everybody or make it better.

Republican leadership know that ACA repeal and replacement will hurt their voters the most and are trying to delay until after 2020 elections, when Democrats may have to face the shitstorm republicans caused. Their dumb voters will stay with them in 2018 and 2020 unless they get punched up side the head really, really hard. Brilliant and vilely evil doing the delay.

Wed Mar 8, 2017, 02:06 PM

the needed lifeline of people who didn't vote for Trump.

She hurt herself and a whole lot of other people. I want for her to understand that.

I do feel bad that ignorance can kill. I do feel bad that people vote against their own interests. I find it mind-boggling that anyone thought a billionaire real estate developer would know anything about the lives of regular Americans. With everything Trump said on the campaign trail, they knew this would happen. He told them.

For years the GOP has done little else besides repeatedly voting to repeal the ACA. Weren't they paying attention? People are now supposed to feel sorry for them because they couldn't stop hating long enough to realize that Obamacare and the ACA were the exact same thing?

No one should have to die from lack of healthcare, not even those I disagree with (and it goes well beyond mere disagreement) - but mostly I feel bad for the people that they have hurt with their ignorance, with their hate, and with their vote.

What I feel for the Trump voter is mainly anger. Trump lied to them. The GOP lied to them. They lied to themselves. But in the end, they will find a way to blame Democrats and Liberals, immigrants, African-Americans, LGBT, and women. They'll blame the "liberal media", but never once will they blame themselves.

Martha Brawley put her hope in a man who said he would repeal Obamacare. She put her hope in a political party that made it plain as day they would repeal Obamacare. She betted her life on it.

Worse, she betted the lives of others on it.
