Al Franken/Sherrod Brown ticket in 2020 is a dream ticket for Democrats.

Both are strong progressives from battleground states in the Midwest.
This ticket can win all of the Clinton 2016 states plus
FL-29 (261ev)
PA-20 (281ev)
OH-18 (299ev)
MI-16 (315ev)
WI-10 (325ev)
These states except OH are states Trump won in 2016 by a less than 2 percent margin.

We already have the West Coast but we need a candidate that can draw us all back together. I don't expect one who can win all 50 states but it would be nice to carry some in each region.

the rust belt can lose there.

McCain and Palin had an all-western ticket that lost Colorado and Nevada.

HRC would have won Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan had it not been for the Comey intervention. And that is even assuming that the race had narrowed for other reasons.

It also would help to be able to run strong campaigns in Florida, North Carolina and Arizona--all of which Comey also cost her--in case we have problems in the rust belt.

Ultimately, I think we can win all those states, along with Iowa and Ohio if we run a good race and the FBI doesn't step forward to rig the election again.

I read he sent to NY but then went back and couldn't find that quote again.

It is beyond absurdity - all that is coming out now - compared to having a server like her husband had as ex-prez, living in a house protected by the Secret Service, that was never hacked. All that said, I wonder if we had taken a lesson from the way they act now - the constant assertion it is all bullshit - the constant labeling as a partisan exercise would have helped. Do believe there is something to that - being angry, being confident, when people are accusing you of something. It works. Old Rovian ploy - deny strongly - you will always get some of the people who will only hear that and nothing else. Same with coming out first and blaming the other person for your greatest weakness.

Southwest (AZ,CO,NV,and NM) Democrats will carry all of the states that Clinton carried in 2016 by a double digit margin.
The ticket which could make it happen is a Tom Udall/Roy Cooper ticket.
Both of these candidates need more coverage.

Either of them need to be placed on the ticket for either President or Vice President. Peters will be a safe choice because MI will have a Democratic Governor by 2020. Democrats could hold onto Peters US Senate seat after the 2020 elections.
Governor Tom Wolf of PA should get more coverage as a potential 2020 Presidential contender.

Baldwin is the most progressive female US Senator to represent a swing state, Baldwin and Warren's economic populist message could help in the rust belt. Trump loses to two women. DOUBLE trouble. Trump would be forced to make a lot of gaffes.

Remember that Brown took Mandel to the woodshed 6 years ago, and Mandel has done absolutely ZILCH to repair his image or to show voters that he's a better candidate now (doing TV commercials with Urban Meyer where you look wooden and frozen in fear ain't gonna do it, Joshy). Add to that the fact that there will be unprecedented anti-Republican sentiment all over the country in 2018 (and the fact that Sherrod Brown is immensely popular here in Ohio), and you're looking at another blowout.

I understand the concern about having a Republican Governor replace him with another horror show like Portman (and let's face it, with the Ohio Democratic Party being basically a dumpster fire right now, that seems likely), but I don't think Sherrod Brown has any interest in being on a Presidential ticket in any capacity.

24. Two Questions
Fri Mar 3, 2017, 12:44 PM
Mar 2017

1. Do you really think Sherrod Brown would agree to being on a Presidential ticket? He is my absolute favorite lawmaker in Washington (not only because he's MY Senator and is from my hometown and my dad knew his mom, but because he's a liberal Democrat who FIGHTS), but I heard a rumor that his wife threatened to divorce him if he ran for President. So that would rule him out for either spot on the ticket. Don't get me wrong, I would gladly break my back trying to get him elected if he ever ran, but I just don't think he will.

2. Can Al Franken really win? I would love it so much if he became President (imagine the speeches he would give!), but with the rampant Antisemitism we're seeing all over the country right now, do you really think it's realistic for a Jew to win? I've always said that Antisemitism was what sunk Al Gore in 2000 (having Lieberman on the ticket was a lead weight around his ankle for MANY reasons, but the antisemitic vote was one big one). I mean, I know we're now a country that will elect celebrities for reasons that have nothing to do with their ability to actually lead this country (not saying Franken isn't capable, but he will be branded "just another Hollywood liberal celebrity" by the RW), but do you really think Al Franken could win? I would back him 100% if I thought his chances were realistic, but right now, after what I've seen lately, I don't know if they are.

as bad candidates who ran bad campaigns, instead of standing up to the Republican Evil Empire and its voter suppression, conspiring with foreign powers, election machine tampering, and fake new propaganda.

Get real. our next candidate is Hillary Clinton, or Al Gore, or John Kerry.

Dream teams are for childhood sports hero worship. Politics and Constitutional government is quite different.

Imagine the people of 1776 getting orgasmic over their Dream Team picks. There would be no nation.

We are in real world life or death, not some baseball game.

I've had enough of so-called progressives-so progressive they think the Republican Party and the Democratic Party for some sort of Establishment and that electing a Trump is better than electing a Hillary Clinton.

The fact is your dream team obsession is destroying millions of lives, including those of mine and my children.
