(46,436 posts)My father was a contract negotiator for the Air Force Academy Construction Agency back in the '50s when it was nothing but wild land there. I never would have imagined a fire coming this close. I'm very worried for Colorado Springs.

(51,666 posts)But in lieu of a cemetery marker we had a tree planted in his memory in a special memorial grove near the chapel (that famous building with the steeply pitched roof). I fear that those trees could burn if the fire gets on Academy land. There is a boulder with a brass plaque, too, with his name among others. But the tree means more to me.

Nope, it's only when natural or man-made disasters strike blue areas like New York City or New Orleans that it's a sign of God's disfavor.
