1) This is an evolving situation. Nobody knows anything definite right now, or if they do, they're not telling the press.
2) In any emergency situation, what witnesses remember and report is not necessarily true. Eyewitnesses during crises are notoriously unreliable narrators.
3) Many, many people and entities have motive to make and propagate false news, rumors and propaganda. Wait for confirmation.
4) Those same propagandists want you and us all panicked. They want us terrified and they want us reacting out of fear, on impulse. Don't give them the satisfaction.
5) Talk down friends and family who are panicking. Tell them you hear their fear. Listen to them and help them talk out the panic instead of staying reactive.
6) Our own government is an unreliable narrator at the moment. Stick with mainstream news sources, especially those on the ground in Canada, and wait for confirmation.
