General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe refugee furor is being used as a smokescreen for Bannon's move on the NSC.
The refugee fuss is misdirecting the world's attention and hobbling the political and media response to what, in my opinion, is the most dangerous event so far.
The tea leaves tell me that the timing of serious discussion of impeachment/Article 25 and Bannon's move is not accidental.
It hints that a very large event - either a major false-flag or an actual assault of some kind (not necessarily military) - is right on the horizon. Bannon's action is probably intended to clear the way for it to unfold without interference until it's commenced (or even over, depending on what sort of event it is and how fast it happens).
We have entered the zone of maximum danger. It's time to connect with friends, and shelter in place until other adults gain control of the situation - if they still can.
More than that I cannot tell from here.

(14,167 posts)The text of one of the EOs about fighting ISIS directs agencies to comply with all information requests. First of all, why would you have to create an EO to develop a strategy to fight ISIS? Second, what information are they trying to find?
This is Shock Doctrine to distract us from what Bannon and Putin are really up to. The question is what are they up to?

(146,351 posts)He has zero qualifications. Therefore, something is up with this. Removing the Generals from the council removes the only people who would object to dangerous plans created by Trump and his team. Generals are non-political voices who can be relied on to tell you when something is really stupid.

(21,088 posts)The guys who removed take "protecting the Constitution from all enemies, domestic or foreign" very seriously. Their dedication was in the way, and Bannon inserted himself as a "control rod" to dampen the eventual reaction of the rest of the NSC.

(146,351 posts)It is the same as if I said my service in the USAF as a Russian Linguist and Analyst qualified me to run an intelligence agency. It does not. Neither does Bannon's time as a Surface Warfare specialist and aide to an Admiral qualifies him for this.
Please do not post in support of Steve Bannon on this website. I bid you good day, sir or madam.

(3,585 posts)One of his masters degrees is in National Security Studies from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and he was a Navy officer and special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon, and is currently the Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor to the President, to say that he has "zero qualifications" for the president to assign him as one of his men at the National Security Council, just makes people start to ignore us as irrelevant sources of information and opinions.

Why are you defending him here?

(21,088 posts)The only advantage I bring to the table is a decade or so complex-systems analysis, including dot-connecting and root-cause analysis in various aspects of the interacting human and biophysical systems of the planet. That activity seems to have given me a nose for obscure connections and a tendency to see the things that attract the most public attention as distracting chaff.
But my ability to analyze this situation is limited by the information I have available. I'm not plugged in.

(21,088 posts)That will be the moment of maximum danger. It will be "now or never time" for the end-game.

We are screwed.

(21,088 posts)Not all the Dems are beholden more to their agenda than their nation. Not even all the Repubs are that cynical, though more of them are.
It doesn't need unanimous support - it could be a rogue action by a smaller group of awakened Congresscritters. That's all it would take to trigger the next phase of this catastrophe.

(21,088 posts)The refugee thing had to be really, really bad in order to successfully distract attention from something even worse.
The planning of this (a combined effort by Dugin, Surkov, Putin and others) shows true evil genius at work.

(4,522 posts)It's a real shit-show. But keep your eyes on the power players: the GOP/corporate who are DYING for the rape and pillage they can do under trump, the christofacists who want a take over with pence as king, and Bannon - the burn it all down wild card capable of anything.
And trump is the bull in the china shop / turd in the punch bowl that serves as the circus of distraction. He's their shit magnet and at the same time capable of his own brand of mentally unstable destruction.

(4,522 posts)is that we get rid of turmp..... and wind up with what?....... president pence?! We're seriously screwed.
The gop/oligarchs/corporate/wallstreet own the whole enchilada right now, and it's not just trump, pence, etc. It's a full scale power grab.
