Carl Bernstein exposes Steve Bannon: Hes concerned the story is moving to Trumps emotional stabilityERIN CORBETT

Don Lemons Thursday night panel discussed Steve Bannons recent comments about the media being the opposition party and the Trump teams alternative facts, including Sean Spicer defending them by comparing it to how we perceive the weather.
Weather reports are about what is going to happen, not what happened, said Carl Bernstein. Were talking about lies about what occurred. Just one thing quickly about Steve Bannon, and that is I would speculate here, not report, that he is very concerned that the story is now moving to Donald Trumps emotional stability and maturity.
Lemon asked former Breitbart staffer Kurt Bardella who previously worked with Bannon, You know these folks in the White House. Is it like do they believe facts are like a weather forecast?
Bardella said that with Breitbart its not about facts, but rather, its alternative reality. In their minds they did it their way and they won. They dont need to change. Everybody else needs to change. As long as they believe that, media will cover anything they do. As soon as Donald Trump tweets something, it becomes breaking news, saturating every television and online news site.

(733 posts)The Putin plan: put in Tillotson as SoS, lift sanctions, make deal with Exxon . . but the wheels are coming off. With the latest info from Russia (see Maddow) and the on-going investigations into ties between Trump and Putin, Bannon and his co-conspirators are afraid they're running out of time to get this done. So they get rid of top employees at State and start floating a draft for lifting sanctions.

(21,088 posts)What the USA is going through right now appears to be WWIII waged by Russia using 4th Generation Warfare techniques.
The techniques in this case include a complex and long term, transnational attack on the enemy's core ideals by using highly sophisticated psychological warfare, especially through media manipulation and lawfare. I'd include information warfare in there. It amounts to changing the enemy's reality without them being aware of it, for hostile purposes. Combine this with cyberintelligence, hacking and some good old-fashioned spycraft, you have the situation in the US today.
This war has been ongoing for a while within the US. The low-intensity portion of the conflict, that set the stage for recent events, was performed "accidentally-on-purpose" by the corporate sphere (e.g. RW talk radio, think tanks, corporate intrusion into academia and media). I don't think they saw it as warfare, it may have been seen as just "promoting business interests and ideologies". When the ground had been thoroughly plowed and fertilized, the war shifted into high gear (with Putin/Dugin doing the shifting) at the beginning of the recent election cycle.
That sense of dislocation and information overload we're all feeling are essentially the blast waves of 4GW "weapons" being detonated by the Russians and their witting or unwitting agents-in-place. These agents include including much of the administration, much of the Republican party, RW think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, and most of RW talk radio. Steve Bannon is definitely a player. For example, the pace of EOs is one aspect of this overload that keeps us from being able to regroup and respond.
This appears to be a form of warfare that Putin and his adviser Aleksander Dugin, have been practicing and perfecting for years already. It amounts to inflicting perception management on your enemy, making them believe that reality is different than what their own senses tell them, and then causing them to act on those mistaken beliefs in such a way that it furthers the attacker's agenda.
I think that's what's going on.
