President-elect Donald Trump would probably appreciate a nice quiet night Thursday, the evening before his inauguration.
But if New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) and a few celebrities have anything to say about it, Thursday night at Trumps New York City International Hotel could end up being a rowdy affair. And not in a good way.
(Granted, Trump will likely spend the night in Washington, D.C., and the Trump International Hotel is a few blocks away from Trump Tower, where the president-elect set up his actual transition office. But thats beside the point.)
De Blasio plans to join actors Alec Baldwin and Mark Ruffalo, as well as filmmaker and activist Michael Moore, at the hotel on Columbus Circle at 6:00 p.m. Thursday for a protest against Trump.

(9,353 posts)Does anyone know why they chose this spot rather than Trump Tower?
Doesn't seem like it's making an especially strong statement here.

(84,166 posts)This is awesome. Da Mayor is kicking him in the cojones in what dump believes is his town. I am so loving this and Baldwin there as well.

(9,353 posts)Not sure how many they are expecting but it will totally fuck up traffic in that area.
Which can make a statement.
Yeah, anybody planning on traveling around Manhattan on Saturday better plan on using the subway. The numbers I have been hearing for the protest are going to create gridlock like we have never seen before.

(9,353 posts)I really think that a protest in front of Trump Tower has more impact than at just another hotel.
