Lee Greenwood, who will perform at inaugural events this week for President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, suggested that those who turn down the chance will later regret missing the opportunity.
He said that he had not heard that Jennifer Holliday, announced as a performer at the opening concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday, backed out of the appearance on Saturday, citing the negative reaction she got on social media.
She is going to regret not going in the future, Greenwood said. You dont get this invitation very often.
He added, To say no I cant imagine the embarrassment she might have later on for passing it up.

Yeah because performing for Reagan back in 1984 did wonders for your career.

(14,276 posts)After getting sworn in, all the new citizens and their families were subjected to a grainy 1980's video of American vistas to the tune of Lee Greenwood's old patriotic chestnut. It was awkward, uncomfortable and clearly made at least 3 decades earlier. My wife commented, "I'd never heard that song before. I hope I don't ever have to hear it again either."

(16,916 posts)I've heard that song more times than I care to admit...I cringe every time I hear it, and it seems, as a veteran, it's every where I turn around Veterans Day

Same for athletes and scholars.
