(40,984 posts)Trump is so shallow he probably heard Gen. Mattis' nickname is "Mad Dog" and thought "Oh, let's get him, I love to say his name."

So, I have no idea how Don stumbled on to him, except maybe it's because the current Commandant of the Corps is rumored to hate Mattis
That would fit with the Trump history of pitting his subordinates against each other for his amusement

(208 posts)Plan was to have Mattis run (knowing he couldn't win outright), win enough just enough states to
deny Clinton and Trump 270 electoral votes, have it go to the House to decide and appoint Mattis
as POTUS.

I'm sure Trump must have been aware of the talks and was thinking 'this guy is good. Who the fuck is he
and why haven't I heard about him before?'
Gen. James Mattis doesnt necessarily want to be presidentbut thats not stopping a group of billionaire donors from hatching a plan to get him there.
An anonymous group of conservative billionaires is ready to place their bets on a man dubbed Mad Dog, hoping to draft him into the presidential race to confront Donald Trump.
Think of it as a Plan B should Trump be nominated by the Republican Party in Cleveland: swing behind retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis and press him into service yet again as a third-party candidate.
