Ben Carson, you've got to be kidding.......Last edited Thu Jan 12, 2017, 11:26 AM - Edit history (1)
I just moved my 86 year old mom into a HUD senior high rise. Her rent is approximately 20% of her income. Her medical expenses from my understanding reduce her income. So the rent covers everything but phone & cable. It is very manageable for her.
I'm afraid that Carson will attempt to raise the income requirements for HUD housing, make the payment of utilities the responsibility of the renter and take money away for the management and maintenance of these buildings. So Carson along with every other Trump nominee scares the bejesus out of me.

1. I'm not sure but utilities usually give huge discounts to senior housing under HUD. Hopefully your
Mom's won't be affected. All I have to pay is phone and cable ($9 monthly), Direct TV gives a a break also. With these subsidies it's very manageable..

we have enough trouble around here w/o these idiots totally screwing up all that we have done to fix subsidized housing. (which is nowhere near enough)

4. the high rise mom is in....
Was built in the late '80s. A group of Catholic Nuns got about 5 of them funded & built. The buildings are non denominational but managed by these Sisters.
They are so nondenominational that nothing religious can be displayed on your apt. door. The parking lot is cleaned by the Pastor of the Church that shares the lot with the building. |

7. I assume Carson will do nothing at the postunless lobbyists give him money to make certain decisions
Left on his own he will likely get bored with the job and simply not do it at all. Meaning lots of vacancies and slowly destroying the efficiency of the program. He doesn't strike me as a man that wants to do a good job in housing as much as a man that wants some more recognition so he can sell more books later on. He's in the book selling business, not housing.
