Is the Holder matter about Obama, or is there some split in the National Security Mafia?
According to Eric Holder's bio, he would appear to be a "made man" in the National Security Mafia. This would be consistent with his previous employment in the Clinton adminstration and in private practice.
By installing Holder as AG and by holding over Gates at DoD, Obama ensured continuity of policies and amicable relationships with the National Security Mafia.
However, with us out of Iraq, Afghanistan winding down, bin Laden dead, and a host of new trouble spot around the world, along with a shrinking budget for Defense and anti-terrorist establishments, there may be a new split in the National Security Mafia. This might be due to difference in strategy or a fight over budgets, since DoD is likely seeing more of its budget drained away into covert and clandestine branches, some beyond its control.
In fact, it might be that the Special Operations Command is competing with BATF and DEA over the latter's involvement overseas?
