(9,291 posts)No warning at all. If he wasn't feeling well he didn't tell anyone. His wife (one of my favorite people on earth) is devastated as is my husband at the loss of his only sibling. You're not supposed to bury your little brother. And right before Christmas last year my brother lost his wife, only 53, to complications of damaged heart valves from childhood rheumatic fever. Trivial in the scheme of things, but the loss of my beloved cat Freddie (my DU alias) only 9 from FIP still hurts too.

(26,359 posts)During 2015 I lost my sister on January 9, my mother on February 4 and my aunt on September 9.
Then at 5:28 am on January 1, 2016 my beautiful little grandniece was born.
My losses, this year, were people whose talents made my life so much more enjoyable.

(4,492 posts)My uncle (sudden heart attack) and my grandmother in the same week.
Only year in the 2010s that I haven't had a loss was 2012. To go back to that year.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
