"SNIP...............
Do you remember 50 First Dates? It was a Drew Barrymore movie about a woman with short-term amnesia who wakes up every morning with no memory whatsoever of the day that went before.
I am thinking its the perfect Donald Trump analogy.
In the past, Ive always presumed that when Trump completely changed his position on health care or the Mexican wall or nuclear weapons in Japan, it was due to craven political opportunism. But its much more calming to work under the assumption that he doesnt remember anything that happened before this morning.
Think about it next time you hear him bragging about his big margin of victory. We won in a landslide. That was a landslide, he told a crowd in Ohio on Thursday. It was perhaps the first time in history that a candidate used those terms after receiving 2.5 million votes fewer than his competitor.
.................SNIP"

(5,591 posts)2. He has no moral compass, no concept of truth
As long as he gets his quick fix of adoration, he will fabricate anything. Pathologically.
Annoying beyond belief and a deal breaker for a general relationship with any person, treacherous and potentially lethal for a presumptive leader of the United States.

Saying he won the popular vote but for the illegal votes cast for Hillary serves a purpose. Doubt elections and legitimize more voting restrictions. All people hear is "illegal votes" because of the reasoning behind voter suppression is so that "illegals" can't vote.
This article sheds some light on it.
Creating an alternate political universe requires discipline. It requires the willingness to tell many little lies that add up to one big lie. All these lies need to be internally consistent, mutually reinforcing, and at least superficially plausible.

That Think Progress article is the most accurate analysis I've seen.
