leader respected by a large number of his peers, if not always agreed with. He is in a whole different class from most of the scumbuckets and extremists Trump has around him. Yes, he's conservative and capable of saying something like that, but the alternative is not someone who would not.

I don't know who pushed him forward, but it was someone, or a faction, who felt extremism was bad and rationality and competence good in this very important position.

because opposing a war can only be because you are weak in some way. He just likes war and that's it.

And the sexism and misogyny makes him worthy of his employer.
