Pope says he believes ban on female priests is forever

The Catholic Church teaches that women cannot be ordained priests because Jesus willingly chose only men as his apostles.

because fewer men want to enter the priesthood now that primogeniture is largely dead and sons can go into business or professions and make their way in the world without being offered a choice between religion or war if they're not in line to inherit.
