I never knew about the note, but to me it shows what a real "honorable" politician is. napi21 Oct 2016 #2

Of respect and decency probably started their friendship.
I really enjoy seeing these sorts of things to counter the disgusting events we have all seen in the last few weeks.

Every once in a while a politician unexpectedly displays a moment of honor, like John McCain did when that lady at one of his rallies told everyone Obama was an Arab. His response was that of an honorable man, the same as GH Bush did with that note. I'm sure there are a few more but we never get to see or hear them.

Didn't always agree with Bush 41 on issues but always thought he was a good person underneath. Shame his kids didn't inherit that.

Not to mention that less than four weeks before writing this note, lame duck Bush pardoned the Iran/contra defendants just before they were to go on trial. Coincidentally, those pardons also served to paper over any inconvenient facts that may have come out about whether Bush himself was "out of the loop" as he claimed.
