Republican: "This isn't a campaign, it is Andy Kaufmann on a book tour"

As I was waiting for my girlfriend outside customs at the airport I bumped into a Republican lawyer I am friendly enough with who was waiting for his son. As this guy had at one point indicated possible support for Perry I couldn't resist tweaking him about Perry having failed to make the Virginia primary.

He then said "This isn't a campaign, it is Andy Kaufmann on a book tour. We have Mitt, the Freak (Ron Paul) and handful of frauds who have little organization and are just jockeying for a payday in the post-election feeding frenzy. They don't want to be president, they want to be Sarah Palin."

He said he wasn't sure what Perry was going for, but he believed he was sincere. I pressed him as to whether or not he would vote for Romney and he remained non-committal.

Certainly not a deep insight, but I thought it was a great line.
