His sentiment is real and alive, though somewhat uninformed regarding educational academia as well as political realities that undermine the teachers' best intentions. His passion reminds me of many of my wife's colleagues in the field of Education, Curriculum & Instruction, etc. Perhaps he would be encouraged by the annual AERA (American Educational Research Association) conference and all the wonderful published literature in the field, that resonate with all the sensible, though somewhat rudimentary ideas he expresses.
