Christian missionary group with pig's head taunt Arab-Americans at Dearborn festival

Tensions flared Friday evening at the annual Arab International Festival in Dearborn as members of the Bible Believers, a Christian missionary group, taunted Arab-Americans with a pig’s head and signs that promoted hatred of Islam.

“You’re gonna burn in hell,” one member shouted at a group of young Arab-American boys listening to him speak on Warren Avenue, where the festival takes place.

The festival continues today in Dearborn, but the members of the Bible Believers won’t be there because they’ll be protesting a gay festival in Ohio, said Arab Festival organizers.

I wish these fools would stay away.

I certainly can't claim that there is no religious tension in Michigan; however, we really do not have significant problems ... noting large Jewish, Muslim and very diverse Christian populations in the Metro Detroit area.

Might check it out later tonight. If I see them I'll try to think of a witty slam. I was thinking maybe I'd count how many there were and say:

'I see you brought (x) pig heads with you this time.'

Their "witnessing" leaves much to be desired.

Also, plenty of Arabs are Christian.

They came to the US about 20 years ago, and are all US citizens now. Another Lebanese Catholic was Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz aka the actor Danny Thomas, and founder of St. Jude's Hospital.

And, I've known Christians from both Jordan and Syrian.

I think you are right -- people forget the original Christians weren't Italians or English, but Semitic folks from the Middle East.

Chances are, the protestors wouldn't know the difference and probably don't even know we Orthodox exist. *sighs* Idiots.

That's an area in which Eastern Orthodox, Eastern Rite Catholics, and RCCs all mix, so it's best to ask.

Hate on everyone, put it out there front and plain, then move on to the next place to display hate.

Yeah, most people want to be part of an organization that preaches hate. Oh wait. I thought hate was Satan's realm.

I have the urge to shriek "There will be no butter in Hell!" (and kudos to anyone that gets the movie reference )
