If you're on Medicare, you cannot use them. It sucks. What are those people supposed to do?
Mylan is saying they're lowering the price of Epi-Pens? Huh-uh. They are just perpetuating the scam.

(115,712 posts)those without insurance. Am I wrong?
Raising drug prices to make a killing off those for whom it is life and death is very immoral and wrong.

(12,393 posts)you can click on your insurance coverage. If it's any type of government-funded insurance, then you are INELIGIBLE for the coupon.
As for Medicare Part D, your coverage can vary depending on what plan you buy. Many Part D plans would have the Epi-Pen as at least a Tier 3, which means a much higher co-pay. Here's the really sticky part for Medicare: The whole cost of the Epi-Pen counts toward the "Doughnut Hole". Once you get into the Doughnut Hole, you pay approx 50% of the cost of the drug until you "spend yourself out". In this instance, that would be $300------AND Medicare users are exclude from using the Mylan Coupon.
Sad but oh, so true. The whole stupid Doughnut Hole thing exists because of George W. Bush----another curse he put upon our country.
Thanks to President Obama and the Affordable Care Act, the Doughnut Hole will be phased out by 2020. In the meantime, we must deal with this travesty.

(26,229 posts)Anyone on government insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, SCHIP, etc...) doesn't qualify and neither do the uninsured. The coupon scam is only for commercial insurance. Uninsured can qualify for an income based discount program if Mylan approves their financials. The rest pay full price - subsidized by the taxpayers. Thats why they do coupons as opposed to lowering the price.
It keeps the shareholders happy, and the CEO can keep her $18mm (in the case of Mylan) annual check.
Everyone wins.

(12,393 posts)The people who need the help the most are the ones who aren't allowed to use the "Coupon".
It's infuriating!
