it. I tried Googling it but really didn't know what to look for.

(12,157 posts)First, citing his personal perspective, Mr. Assange accused Mrs. Clinton of having been among those pushing to indict him after WikiLeaks disseminated a quarter of a million diplomatic cables during her tenure as secretary of state.
We do see her as a bit of a problem for freedom of the press more generally, Mr. Assange said.

We have been witness to Donald Trumps hostility toward anyone who is at all critical of him, even if it is only to the extent of asking him questions, or accurately quoting him. This has morphed into something more with reports that the live feed cables from MSNBC and CNN were tampered with during a Trump event.
More ominously, Donald Trump wants to be able to take legal action against those he thinks are unkind in their reporting. Friday in Texas, Trump revealed his utter disdain for the First Amendments freedom of the press, proclaiming that hes gonna open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money.
He complained to the crowd, as he sold them his own pack of lies, I think the media is among the most dishonest groups of people Ive ever met. Theyre terrible.
Thats some claim coming from one of the 21st centurys foremost liars. The solution to people reporting unwelcome facts about him, Trump says, is to tear up the First Amendment and start suing the media silly. This claim earned him thunderous applause. Nobody hates critics of Donald Trump more than Donald Trump than his cultists.

is the paradigm of a free press.
So, nah, I'm pretty sure it's the misogyny.

(6,342 posts)He has no motivation to go after Trump right now.
Hillary and Obama have actively tried to jail Assange and shut down his operations. He sees them as a bigger threat.

Not speculation about his motives, but the motive he himself has given which is laughable on its face.
On Edit: In addition to the rape charge he fled the country from rather than face.

(6,537 posts)I guess we're just supposed to take his word for it.....because Julian Assange says so. The word of a accused rapist and known anti-Semite.

(6,496 posts)and he's pretending like he's looking out for the rest of us because he doesn't want to seem like he is using wikileaks "the press" for selfish reasons. I think it was a mistake on his part, because reasonable, intelligent people around the world can see through that.

(1 post)Look at the WikiLeaks twitter page. It looks like something you'd see on Fox News. If they were really objective, they would bash Trump for wanting to restrict the media. But I see only Hillary-bashing.
And look at this post from the Daily Beast last year: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/14/wikileaks-anti-feminist-rant.html

(6,342 posts)WikiLeaks and much of the hacker community also don't particularly like the way the Obama administration chased Snowden and have suggested curtailing internet freedoms.
Their big thing is that governments should be transparent and should not be trying to restrain the freedom of speech and a free internet.

(30,439 posts)He resents the fact that the most powerful person in the world could be a woman.
So he's doing everything he can to stop it.
He'd rather have Trump than Hillary.

(6,342 posts)Every time he has ever spoken it is about his crusade for government transparency. Something Obama once believed in as a candidate himself, but obviously not anymore.
Just because Assange opposes Hillary Clinton doesn't make him misogynist. His opposition to what the Democrats have favored so far is not a surprise. Since Obama took office, this party has only intensified what George W. Bush started with surveillance state and curtailing freedoms and privacy.
Remember when Bush was in office how progressives were against things like the Patriot Act? Remember how we opposed things like "either with us or against us?" Since we gained the White House, we have adopted the same fucking policies! Now no Democrat will criticize the NSA. No one here will criticize the phone meta-data sweeps (even though Biden in 2007 as a Senator trashed Bush with that). Now all this is A-OK because the the guy in charge is someone we like? Think about it.

(1 post)I'm not sure if his recent legal problems have helped his mommy issues --or whatever they are.
He has been holed up for years in a room at the Embassy of Ecuador (in UK) avoiding trial -- for the rape of two women!
These women are Swedish social rights activists who identify themselves as pro-women's rights and were claimed in defense as "having a bizarre view of men in Anna Ardins circle.
check out whole article here:
[link:http://observer.com/2016/02/exclusive-new-docs-throw-doubt-on-julian-assange-rape-charges-in-stockholm/| It talks about Assange's claim that these women were sexual aggressors and it claims that "Sweden has been a matriarchy since the Stone Age, when the men lived in barns with the animals and only came into the house when it was time to impregnate the women."
these women "are chauvinists, like the worst kind of chauvinism among menbut on the feminist spectrum. They speak of men as sexual tools, and say theyre not necessary for intellectual discussions.
Maybe he just totally hates women now? Nothing better to do in his prison-amnesty but to hack away at the character of HRC - the most powerful woman in the current world.
