Germany blast: Syrian migrant 'behind Ansbach explosion'

failed asylum seeker from Syria killed himself and injured 12 other people after setting off a bomb near an open-air music festival in the German city of Ansbach, officials say.

Police said three of the injured were in a serious condition.

Mr Herrmann said the man was known to have attempted suicide twice before, adding: "We don't know if this man planned on suicide or if he had the intention of killing others."

Posted because more information is now known. He'd been turned away from a music festival by security. It seems security in Germany is working and probably saved many lives tonight.

I see them as rootless, with their home obliterated, stuck in a foreign culture and physically safe but completely misunderstood by the locals, it is rather like moving to another planet. Without a support system, they become easy prey for nutcases who promise them the next world will be full of delight if they martyr themselves in the world they can no longer stand living in, here's a bomb, this is the cord.

I don't know what compassionate people can do about these guys. I'm afraid the no hopers are going to ruin it for everyone else seeking asylum worldwide.

It is about the
individual and not about the macro-social issues that we'd like to apply.
