Everyone should read or listen to this speech.

In 1980, at the Democratic National Convention, Ted Kennedy made the most amazing speech of the 20th century. If you have the time, you should listen to it. I cannot find one single video that gives the entire speech in one go, so here are the four you tube videos.

For those of you who'd prefer to read the text:

That speech could almost be repeated verbatim today and be completely apropos. I'm fortunate to be old enough to have heard this at the time. For those of you who didn't, who are too young, please read or listen. And if you read, please channel Ted Kennedy's voice. It makes a difference.

but it keeps getting stomped by the right and stabbed in the back by yellow dog Dems.

I heard Kennedy's speech back then as well. Over the years I had to just harden my heart...to the inevitable disappointments.

But, thank you for posting this reminder of the power of words to move us towards the angels of our better selves.

Teddy was great in the senate

What he said about the environment reminded me of the greatest GOP prez according to them

I am not worried about the deficit. It is big enough to take care of itself.

I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency, even if I’m in a cabinet meeting.
