What I am not understanding is why Mormons (aka "Mormans" ) have to be dragged into this at all, just because of this one knuckle dragging Republican savage.

We're not going to let equivalent jokes fly because Meg Whitman is a woman or Herman Cain is black or Marc Rubio is Hispanic.

Mormonism is relatively young, and so doesn't benefit from the reverence that plain old age gives to a lot of other religions. I think it's pretty funny that so many religious people can so casually laugh at Mormonism and call it ridiculous, when it's no more silly than their own religion.
