Here in WI Blacks have a 30 times greater chance of being a victim than non-Hispanic whites.
Should we be worried about what is most often used to shoot them or AR-15s?

(36,063 posts)Personally, I think worrying about shootings at Sikh temples, beauty spas and church services in hotel meeting rooms is ignoring gun deaths on a scale of about 1000 to 1

You take Black-on-Black Gun Violence. I'm sure you'll solve in a jiffy.

(36,063 posts)Mass shootings are rare, too rare for statistical analysis. A couple of years with a few random extra shootings could mask truly effective programs. Likewise a couple of years with one or two fewer shootings could lead people to think ineffective policy is working.
And then there is the thing about many hundreds dying compared to scores dying. Focus on the score of deaths because they are in places where people of privilege spend time? Or focus on the hundreds of deaths?

Urban Gun Violence has one main cause: GUNS. They're not going anywhere, so it's not going anywhere.
None of the Gun Violence is going anywhere, because PRIVILEGED WHITE AMERICANS are paranoid, afraid of their own shadows, and think they're Constitutional Scholars.

Slaves revolting, workers striking, Indians refusing to leave? Call the militia!

Nationally blacks are 10 times more likely to end up shot. In WI blacks are 30 times more likely to be shot
Mass shootings (as defined by law enforcement) happen multiple times per day in the US.
We only notice when they are "unusual". Mostly that means when they happen to people in places where such things aren't accepted as background.

(33,473 posts)The shootings that you are trying to define as a larger crisis than these once-a-week-on-average Amoklauf Massacres are largely multiple daily 1 on 1 incidents, not MASS Shootings or MASS Killings. I'm quite aware what the difference is, and I'm quite capable of despairing about both.
And I assert, again, that urban violence isn't going anywhere, simply BECAUSE the nation is SATURATED with Semi-Automatic Firearms and Testosterone is an abundant natural resource.
I'm not your Dear.

It was terrorism.
