Kasich, Rubio, Christie, and Scott have all probably peaked unless they can use the VP nomination as a stepping stone to 2020.

Fallin is so unknown that she might benefit most from the national spotlight.

but I suppose it makes as much sense as everything else Trump has does throughout the campaign.

His responses have been that he'd make a horrible VP and that he currently has the second best job in the nation.

ETA: However one wouldn't expect someone running for president to admit he wants the VP job.

Kasich... Doesn't want it

Rubio... Maybe but doesn't bring much

Christie ... Shooting for AG

Scott... Meh.. maybe. No star power

Fallin ... Palin the second

Haley... Smart choice for him but I think she is smart enough to stay away

Martinez - Maybe but not a lot of name recognition.

I can't imagine Rubio humiliating himself and saying yes, but Rubio is ambitious.

Scott may see it as a way to keep prosecutors from his door for a while longer.

Chris Christie seems to be all about humiliating himself for advancement. Maybe Trump will pick him and have him do some tricks to show his power.

Will he make the pick via a reality show like "the Apprentice?"

Rick Scott is a genuine teabagger that could help Florida, and Joni Ernst is another nut that could take care of his women problem. Mind you, this is what I think his campaign is thinking; personally, I think he could pick Jesus as his running mate and he'll still go down in flames.

I know his spokesperson declined, but he checks all the boxes Trump needs and despite his public persona, Trump is known for being quite "charming" in person. (Even Keith Olbermann said as much).

the table. He was the distant 3rd place finisher. If Martinez can be persuaded, she'd be a good choice. It would look like he was making amends for earlier statements about Latinos and women. Trump isn't much of a Rubio fan, but the establishment likes Little Marco. He's young, ethnic, and wears his religion on his sleeve. Lots of wingnut appeal. Whoever gets the nod, it will be with the full support of the RNC. They badly need to make some lemonade out of the lemon they've been handed.
