Imagine current candidates doing WH correspondents dinner

Obama is a hard act to follow when doing comedy. Previous presidents have varied. Bill Clinton had some good bits, but remember W looking under his desk for WMDs. Some presidents have comedic talent, others have none. It cuts across party.

Think about how the current crop of candidates might have handled last night's event. Picture in that role Trump, Cruz, or even Kasich. Not pretty. Make up your own jokes.

Now for our side. Sanders is hard for me to gauge. He might be barely ok, but he doesn't really seem the zinger type. Obama is masterful a sugar coating a zinger, smiling the whole time.

Clinton usually comes across as flat and over rehearsed when she goes for humor. She does pretty well in skits like SNL playing herself, but on her own she isn't very effective. And she often seems tone deaf in the moment (e.g. CPT).

I think there are some good jokes lurching here somewhere, but I haven't come up with them.

Are we a banana republic that the media's greatest moments are when the President throws crumbs at them that they eat? The media is supposed to be independent. This practice needs to be abolished.

I wouldn't read all that much into it.

it would probably be wise to skip a Hillary correspondents dinner.
