For example, my fifth hide was for a post in which I laughed about going to the Bernie site for information, and being met with request for a donation and the last four digits of my credit card number. Here some people are worried about Hillary having their email addresses -- and yet Bernie had my credit card numbers.

That was it. That's what got me suspended. And there are many other Hillary supporters who were repeatedly alerted and hidden for similarly innocuous posts.

It's amazing to see the vast difference between some hides and some truly vile posts that get a pass from a jury. I can only hope that part of the new system allows for reconsideration.

I don't like the poster above, and she doesn't like me, but I doubt she earned five hides. I don't see that happening, based on the rules.

It's Purgatory. The word is based on purge, a place where you are purged of your sins.

There are lots of things I have blocked out from my Catholic upbringing but spelling is apparently not one of them.

Growing up Catholic, we had to learn the difference. I thought it would be fun to comment on Limbo, but there is no fun on DU anymore.

when they allow meta, and block people from defending themselves in the group. Trash talking people who aren't allowed to defend themselves is a good way to make enemies. I think that's what poisoned GDP.

For example, my fifth hide was in GDP. I posted about going to the Bernie Sanders site and being met with a page asking me for a donation -- and listing the last four digits of my credit card number. I thought it was funny. And said:

The alerter said that it wasn't Bernie with the credit card info -- it was Act Blue, which was doing their fundraising. How would I know that? The Bernie site still pops up with my credit card when I go to it, and it still doesn't say anything about Act Blue.

And many other Hillary supporters got hidden for posts as innocuous as that.

I suspect that a study of the posts hidden versus posts not hidden might even find more vile ugliness in posts not hidden.

There is a big problem with the jury system. It's good that DU recognizes that.

and they knew it was targeted bullshit, people taking advantage of the numbers to silence one side of the argument, with a distinct and obvious racial overtone.

Judging from the fact that the returning refugee population seems to be about 10-1 Clinton supporters and contains a SHAMEFUL number of our best and brightest AA posters I'd say Skinner was pretty well spot fucking on.

Without any evidence, especially in protected groups that we are censored from responding. It is nice to have a protected group to launch your attacks and being able to do that with impunity.

alerting on anything and everything because they knew they could use the jury pool disparity to their advantage to silence pro-Clinton African-American voices. Skinner even took to occasionally overturning hides for some of those posters because the targeting and motivation were so nakedly partisan and racially-tinged.

And some of the posts in protected groups are really disgusting. I never said all posts. But some use a protected group as a safe haven to post insults. Served some right to have some of those posts hidden. HellHe'll, I had an apology hidden and I did not whine about how unfair it was. Idid my vacation time after I was alert stalked.

Wiki: Milton gave the sonnet the number 19, but in the published book it was numbered 16 (see Kelley, 1956;[1] Revard, 2009,[2] p. 569), so both numbers are in use for it. It is popularly given the title On His Blindness, but there is no evidence that Milton used this title; it was assigned a century later by Thomas Newton in his 1761 edition of Milton's poetry,[3] as was commonly done at the time by editors of posthumous collections (Ferry, 1996, p. 18[4]).

On His Blindness

When I consider how my light is spent
Ere half my days in this dark world and wide,
And that one talent which is death to hide
Lodg'd with me useless, though my soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account, lest he returning chide;
"Doth God exact day-labour, light denied?"
I fondly ask. But Patience to prevent
That murmur, soon replies: "God doth not need
Either man's work or his own gifts; who best
Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. His state
Is kingly. Thousands at his bidding speed
And post o'er land and ocean without rest:
They also serve who only stand and wait."
