L.A. Latinos Are Sharpening Their Pitchforks for Trump's Arrival
Donald Trump is scheduled to come to Los Angeles, home of nearly 5 million Latinos, on Friday.
Given his June 16 remarks about Mexican immigrants they're criminals and "rapists" Trump coming to town would be like Jenny McCarthy visiting the National Science Foundation.
But worse.
We spoke to a few Latino groups and, as expected, it doesn't look as if the GOP presidential candidate will be welcome here. The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), for one, says it will embark on a social media campaign, starting today, to pressure the venue to pull out.
"If Mr. Trump is coming to L.A., he should be prepared to know that L.A. will not be welcoming him with open arms," says CHIRLA director of communications Jorge-Mario Cabrera. "There will be some social media campaigning that will call on the hotel to rescind their invitation to Mr. Trump."
Trump is scheduled to speak at a dinner organized by Friends of Abe, a secretive, 1,800-member group of conservative Hollywood entertainers and moguls.
Membership is said to include the likes of Pat Boone, Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammer.
