"According to the suit, McMath can move a finger on her mother's command. It also says that since she came to New Jersey, McMath, now 15, began to get her menstrual period and her breasts developed.
The maturation of her body, the suit said, could only have happened with a functioning hypothalamus, the portion of the brain that regulates the release of hormones.
Aside from her brain injury, McMath "is in excellent health with no skin or organ breakdown," the lawsuit said. She receives "minimal in-home support." "

(21,866 posts)I can't believe this is still going on. I don't know if her mother is truly in denial or is looking for money or is just stupidly listening to fraudster lawyers and doctors. it's just gruesome.

(36,298 posts)"In her court declaration, Children's Hospital Oakland pediatrician Flori laid out the clear indications that Jahi's body was deteriorating. The tissues under her skin were losing their elasticity, and her muscles were contracting. Her blood pressure spiked but was gradually declining. Blankets were needed to maintain a constant temperature.
"This deterioration became inevitable the moment she died," Flori said. "Additional and more dramatic signs of the body's deterioration will continue to manifest over time, regardless of any procedures and regardless of any heroic measures that any facility might attempt.""

Is she truly brain dead? I would think that if she was, her body would have given out some time ago regardless of what efforts were made to keep her alive.
