Refuge occupation has cost $250K, Grasty plans to bill Bundy family

BY BOB HEYE AND KATU.COM STAFF
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH 2016

HARNEY COUNTY, Ore. (KATU) -- Harney County Judge Steven Grasty told KATU News he plans to bill Ammon Bundy's family for the extra costs surrounding the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in rural Oregon ...

He also told KATU he is trying to get local ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond out of prison.

Grasty called for the end of the occupation as four holdouts remain at the refuge.

"There's no beatin' around the bush now. They've got indictments so, guys, c'mon out and let's not have another disaster," Grasty said. "Whatever the investigation shows on Mr. Finicum, we don't need any more of that. The FBI doesn't want it, the sheriff doesn't want it, I don't want it."

The judge is? Am I reading that wrong? Shit I have someone in prison I want out. I wonder how effective it would be for me to take a gun and barricade myself in some federal location? Shit if I'd known that's all yuou have to do to get someone released....

Maybe we should all try this.

I bet these yahoos end up with time served and probation too.

He's a county judge and the Hammonds were convicted on federal charges! He has no jurisdiction, over a federal court's decisions!

Any legal experts out there, want to offer an opinion?

the inappropriately-short* sentences in the first place? (* non-compliant with the federal mandatory minimum) I thought that guy "retired" after being over-ruled...

I can't imagine that's all, if they factor in the time of local law enforcement and FBI, various resources, for a month.
