WaPo OP Claiming Cruz isn't a natural born citizen
WaPo ran a piece today from a professor at Widener who contends that Cruz isn't a "natural born citizen" as required to be president. I did a bit of reading on this issue when the crazy wing of the Republican party claimed a few years ago that President Obama wasn't eligible and I tend to agree with the author of the article.
Let me be clear: I am not a so-called birther. I am a legal historian. President Obama is without question eligible for the office he serves. The distinction between the president and Cruz is simple: The president was born within the United States, and the senator was born outside of it. That is a distinction with a difference.

3. Yeah
I still think Rubio would be the most dangerous in the GE -- Trump won't draw enough independents and Rubio, while really right wing, isn't as batshit right wing crazy as Cruz (and is a better politician).

5. In 1974 both of his parents were on the federal voter rolls in canada. if she renounced her citizen
status as an american then he's toast. Lawrence Tribe doesn't believe he's legal either.

7. If she renounced her citizenship, the US would have paperwork on it.
Canada does not require you renounce your citizenship when you become a naturalized citizen and the US government must take affirmative steps to revoke the citizenship of a person who becomes a citizen of a foreign nation should they choose to do so.
Since there is no paper trail on Cruz's mother losing her citizenship AND since she came back into the country as a full citizen, your theory does not hold water. |

6. Just like with climate change skeptics,...
WaPo finds the one legal scholar not part of the 99.3% of legal scholars who agree that Cruz is a natural born citizen.
