2. I totally disagree. This is outrageous heresy. Every TRUE believer knows that there are only 9.

7. True, there are many more.
But it's like telling somebody who's trying to get kids to do arithmetic that there's math.
And once you're done with calculus of a single variable, there are diff. eqs. Then multivariable calculus. And partial diff. eqs. With Fourier and LaPlace transforms. Or more real analysis. Then you dig into Euler's equation and Cauchy's theorem and do complex analysis. And let's not forget differential geometry. And so on and so forth. Even if you know there's more beyond vector calculus, you don't want to scare the poor li'l tykes. Much less if you're trying to get the high-schoolers to be able to solve 3x = 3/9 without getting the answer "x = 3". Although moving the goalposts is a really good contender for Commandment #11. |

8. Euler's equation is a tautology.
The deeper you go in math, the more you realize it all is. Useful only so far as it is useful.
I look at everything that way. There are no "goal posts." The universe is what it is; there is no game. |

9. Oh Please!
It's exactly the overwhelming number of those types of posts here that keep this place somewhat entertaining. And the owners view it as revenue enhancing, no doubt. So 2 thumbs down.
