Someway, somehow, North Carolina Senator Richard Burr has ascended to wield the gavel as the chairman of the prominent Senate Intelligence Committee and with such power, the two-term senator is now looking into whether his Republican colleague and presidential candidate, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, improperly discussed classified information during last nights Republican presidential debate
While battling Florida senator and security state hawk Marco Rubio over the NSAs recently expired bulk data collection program on CNNs Las Vegas debate stage last night, Cruz argued that the replacement program wasnt actually limiting the massive security apparatus as nearly 100 percent of phone numbers can be checked for terror ties under the new program, compared with 20 percent to 30 percent under the old regime.
That gives us greater ability to stop acts of terrorism, and he knows that thats the case, Cruz asserted.
Asked by reporters today if Cruz improperly revealed classified details of the spying programs after his communications director tweeted as much during the debate, Burr revealed that he is actually having my staff look at the transcripts of the debate right now to investigate.

(50,614 posts)If Central Clearance Facility declared Ted Cruz as ineligible to hold a security clearance due to disclosing sources and methods on national television, and the Federal Election Commission declared Ted Cruz ineligible to run for president because he's unclearable, THAT would be funny!

(50,614 posts)It's a restriction marking on classified information.
The most restrictive is "NOFORN" - which means only US intelligence consumers can see the document.
Nearly as restrictive is "US/UK Eyes Only" - only US and British consumers can see it.
"US/UK/CAN/AUS Eyes Only" also allows Canadian and Australian consumers to have it. There's also a "US/UK/CAN/AUS/NZ Eyes Only" marking that allows New Zealand to have it too, but our relationship with New Zealand has a checkered past: because NZ doesn't allow nuclear material of any kind anywhere in the country, and we won't divulge whether our ships are carrying any, every so often New Zealand keeps our ships out of their harbors and we retaliate by cutting off their access to American classified product.
