(1,276 posts)This can be a really tough time of year for a lot of people. I hope that this message gets out there to, and helps, as many of them as possible.

(41,878 posts)this is the time of year I get a little depressed. My Parents are going to spend Christmas and New Years in Las Vegas, but I chose to stay home. I don't want that for my holidays, but to each their own, I guess.

(36,988 posts)Always loved that song but thought it was about smoking a joint when I first heard it.........LOL
You are not alone...... I always look forward to your posts and conversations
I spent thanksgiving alone too but you have to look at this as in the social and cultural constructs that you are forced to confront and then not be bitter but realize what growth it may give you on caring for others.
You are always welcome in my humble abode

(1,276 posts)I hope that there will be someone that you could spend the holidays with, a friend, or a group. If not, then I wish you the best and hope that your folks decide to stay local next year .

(41,878 posts)But ...gag!! I know my dad likes to play the slot machines and gamble, and he tells me this is the only time of the year he gets to take off work, and my mother has probably seen every show there is in Las Vegas, ...surprised they haven't decided to move there..but no, they have their jobs here and its where they like to go.
The idea of spending Christmas and New Years in a Motel 6...doesn't exactly appeal to me, so I just stay home in my own place and find things to do.
